Rather than trying to control anxiety, we can understand it with compassion - so it feels less urgent and more manageable.
Collaborative:
A sense of connection matters. I aim to meet clients as one human to another - with care, non-judgement, a sense of realness (and sometimes humour).
We work together to find an approach and pace that fits. It's not passive. I’ll offer reflections, and share knowledge and experience, but I respect that you are the expert on you.
Working in a practical way:
By understanding how our brains and bodies maintain cycles of anxiety, we can change how we respond. We work with the physical feelings and mental loops that keep anxiety going. This is informed by current CBT models and psychological understanding.
Exploring habits and relationship patterns:
If you find yourself wondering, “why do I always do that?” it can be helpful to understand how these habits formed. Ways of adapting to past relationships, circumstances, or events (including trauma) can become automatic. Together, we can identify and update them, so they feel less stuck and more aligned with how you want to be.
Neuro-affirming:
I adapt the work for neurodiverse clients, including ADHD and autistic traits, so it feels right for you.
